Para-Professional Engineering Position

This is a para-professional engineering position within the Division of Building Plan Review. The incumbent is responsible for plans administration to ensure services are delivered timely and appropriately during the permitting process to both internal and external customers. Work is performed with independent judgment and technical evaluation under the general supervision of the Section Supervisor and/or the Division Associate Director or designee. The incumbent performs work diligently to complete tasks and duties as assigned. The incumbent will also be responsible for performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties relative to the processing of applications and issuance of various County permits.

Anticipated Period of Performance: This is an in-office position. Start Date: ASAP. End Date: TBD.

Responsibilities

• Receipt and Process Plans: Receive and process commercial and residential building plan submissions. Review each submittal package for completeness and accuracy.
• Quality control: Check plans, applications and workflows, returning as necessary. Coordinate the review process and provide assistance and guidance to applicants.
• Records Management / Plans Log Out: Coordinate collation, stamping and release of approved plans to the Permits Office for issuance. Verify that all disciplines have reviewed and appropriately recorded their approvals in both the automated and manual systems. Ensure in-house archiving of issued engineering plans in accordance with the approved records retention schedule.
• ePlan (ProjectDox) Coordinator/Facilitator: Ensure that the ePlan system is accessible, reliable and functional for internal and external users.
• Customer Services: Handle inquiries from internal and external customers as they pertain to general plan review and permitting requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s degree in architecture, civil, structural, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
• Some experience in construction.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
• Building/structural plan review experience.
• Experience with ePlan, Momentum or other electronic permitting and plan review software.
• ICC / NFPA building plan review and/or inspections experience; engineering or architectural bachelor\'s degree.
