TOULOUSE, 31
il y a 4 jours

Job Description

We are looking for a PhD candidate in Aeroacoustic simulation of jet‑airframe interactions using the Lattice‑Boltzmann Method to contribute to the development of numerical aeroacoustic methods for simulating jet noise when installed on an airframe. The candidate will be based in Toulouse in the Airbus Commercial Aircraft division within the Engineering Propulsion Center of Competence.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on improving the Lattice‑Boltzmann Method (LBM) algorithms for aeroacoustic simulation and integration. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and refine LBM numerical tools to predict noise from jet engines installed under high‑lift wings.
  • Enhance the maturity of the transition algorithm at octree mesh interfaces in realistic high‑Reynolds‑number environments.
  • Improve accuracy of algorithms handling non‑conformal mesh interfaces in compressible regimes.
  • Evaluate trade‑offs between cell‑centered and vertex‑centered algorithms.
  • Adapt the Direct Coupling mesh refinement algorithm to new compressible models.
  • Identify levers and develop new algorithms to improve mesh interface accuracy.
  • Focus on numerical stability and spectral accuracy of LBM schemes in high‑speed compressible regimes.
  • Validate the LBM approach across cases of increasing complexity, from simple round jets to wing and flap installation scenarios.

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Engineer or Master’s degree in aero‑acoustics, fluid mechanics or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in unsteady aeroacoustic CFD simulation methods.
  • Proven expertise in numerical methods and turbulence modelling.
  • Good programming skills in scientific languages such as Python and C++.
  • Additional experience (plus) with pre‑ and post‑processing tools for CFD acoustics (Tecplot, Paraview) and acoustics theory and methods.
  • Soft skills: excellent human relationship abilities, customer‑oriented mindset, curiosity, autonomy, collaborative mindset, advanced English.

Benefits

  • Attractive salary with success and profit‑sharing schemes, employee savings plan and voluntary stock purchase plan.
  • Work/life balance with extra days off, holiday transfer option and staff council offering social, cultural and sports activities.
  • Health benefits: complementary health insurance, services centre at the site, concierge services, gym, carpooling application.
  • Individual development: access to over 10,000 e‑learning courses, certification programmes, accelerated development programmes, career path, national and international mobility.

Working Environment & Location

Toulouse is a dynamic city in the south‑west of France with an international airport. It offers an exciting environment close to the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees mountains.
