Context: Within ENGIE, the CSO role sits in the Global Business Unit Supply & Energy Management, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the entity and having a functional line to the Group Security and Economic Intelligence Department (DSIE).

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise the entity’s Director and Executive Committee members on all security-related matters.
  • Ensure deployment of the Group Security Policy within the entity and align action plans with Group directives.
  • Maintain relationships with local authorities and administrations in the countries where the entity operates, as necessary.
  • Maintain regular interaction with DSIE and develop relationships with regional security hubs and other ENGIE CSOs, including participation in monthly meetings, incident reporting, and escalation of significant events.
  • Identify, assess, and anticipate threats affecting personnel, assets, and facilities; implement appropriate responses and report alerts and trends to management and DSIE when needed.
  • Monitor local regulations, technological developments, and emerging threats; contribute to DSIE threat intelligence and facilitate sharing of relevant information.
  • Ensure physical protection measures across sites (access control, CCTV, alarm systems, locking systems, etc.).
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe environment for all employees, including local staff and expatriates, and provide security guidance to business travelers.
  • Support the protection of sensitive information by raising awareness, contributing to data mapping, supporting classification processes, and leading or contributing to investigations in case of data breaches.
  • Prepare for security crisis management and participate in crisis response teams as needed.
  • Conduct annual internal control self-assessments, identify gaps, and define mitigation plans.
  • Oversee security aspects of major events and develop specific security policies, procedures, and plans in compliance with Group rules and local regulations.
  • Conduct third-party audits (security providers) and due diligence processes, sharing results with DSIE when required.
  • Support business development teams in identifying and mitigating security risks related to projects and operations.
  • Establish an annual security risk mapping (people, infrastructure, information) and submit it to DSIE.
  • Advise the Executive Committee on regulatory changes impacting security practices and decision-making.
  • Share lessons learned (REX) with DSIE and the security network to support continuous improvement.
  • The implementation and performance of these responsibilities are assessed through KPIs defined in coordination with DSIE.

Profile

  • University degree (minimum Bachelor’s, preferably Master’s degree).
  • At least 10 years of experience in security, gained within government institutions (military, police, etc.) or the private sector, complemented by recognized certifications (e.g., CPP).
  • Proven ability to combine strategic thinking with operational execution.
  • Strong expertise in strategic and operational planning, as well as management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain high availability in crisis situations.
  • Fluent in English with good working knowledge of French.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and collaborate across diverse teams and functions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; autonomous, well-organized, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate in remote or challenging environments, including industrial onshore and offshore sites.
  • Good understanding of the geographical areas where the entity operates.
  • Willingness to travel regularly.
