Chief of Engineering
We are seeking a Chief of Engineering to own the hardware delivery engine at Isentroniq - from fab strategy to product shipment. This is our first C-level hire: a founding-level operator who will build the process development and supply chain capabilities that turn our technology vision into physical products, shipped on time, at the frontier of what semiconductor fabs can produce. As Chief of Engineering, you sit at the intersection of technology vision and product delivery. You work directly with the CEO/CTO, who owns the application architecture and technology roadmap, to translate those ambitions into manufacturable realities. You define the fab development vision - what process integrations to pursue, which partnerships to build, which IP to protect - and you run the operational machine that ships hardware products on schedule.
At Isentroniq, we are building the future of computing - not in theory, but in hardware. We enable quantum computing at scale by developing superconducting circuit solutions that increase qubit count by more than 100x at fixed cost and infrastructure size.
We share knowledge openly, challenge ideas constructively, and stay focused on what matters. Our values - gritty ambition with humility, radical candor, surgical audacity, and self-accountable teamwork - are at the core of how we work and grow.
If you’re passionate about transformative innovation and ready to own the engineering organization that makes quantum computing a physical reality, join us.
Key Responsibilities
Own hardware delivery. Be accountable for the engineering organization delivering Isentroniq’s hardware products - from process specification through fab execution to packaged, tested, shipped product. Set milestones, manage schedules, and build the operational discipline to hit them.
Lead and grow the engineering teams. Manage, structure and recruit the hardware engineering teams. Create an environment where world-class process and integration engineers can do the best work of their careers. Build a culture of accountability, technical depth, and execution speed.
Drive fab co-development. Own the relationships with our MEMS, BEoL, and OSAT fab partners. Co-develop process flows: Isentroniq designs experiments, short loops and material selection strategies; you orchestrate execution with fab partners and close the loop with in-house metrology - including cryogenic and qubit-level characterization. Turn co-development programs into durable process IP.
Define and execute fab strategy. Establish Isentroniq’s long-term vision including which fabs to partner with, how to structure those partnerships, what process integrations are worth pursuing, and how to protect and grow our process and architecture IP. Translate the CEO/CTO’s technology vision into fab capability requirements and roadmaps.
Constrain and enable the technology vision. Operate as the critical interface to the CEO/CTO’s architecture work. Provide grounded, candid input on what fabs can deliver, what process co-development timelines look like, and which technology directions are manufacturable at pace. Push back when needed; find a path when it’s possible.
Who you are
You have spent your career shipping packaged IC modules - real products, tight deadlines, demanding customers - and you have done it through a wide and well-managed network of semiconductor fabs, OSATs, and PCBA partners. You know how to run a co-development program with a fab. You know what it takes to get a process into production. You are comfortable with the ambiguity of deep tech and the accountability of a startup.
You are not just a great technical mind - you are a builder of organizations and partnerships. You thrive at the intersection of strategy and execution, and you hold both with equal seriousness.
Key Qualifications
Track record of hardware product delivery in packaged IC modules or similar semiconductor products, from process development through OSAT and into customer hands.
Deep process integration knowledge across one or more of: MEMS, advanced CMOS BEoL, heterogeneous integration, wafer-level packaging, or related semiconductor disciplines.
Hands-on fab relationship experience - you have co-developed processes with fabs, managed process qualification programs, and navigated the technical and commercial dynamics of fab partnerships.
Supply chain leadership experience in a fabless or fab-light environment: vendor selection, contract negotiation, purchase management, and the rigour to run on-time delivery across a multi-fab supply chain.
Engineering team leadership - you have managed and grown technical teams, set direction, and built a culture of delivery without sacrificing engineering quality.
Strategic thinking on IP familiarity with how IP is structured, owned, and negotiated in fabless–fab co-development programs, and the ability to reason about process IP and integration architectures at a company level, not just a project level.
Communication proficiency in English
Bonus
Familiarity with cryogenic environments or quantum hardware
Experience in a startup or early-stage company
Proficiency in French
Personal Attributes
You are an operator. You ship things. You build the systems, habits, and relationships that make shipping reliable - and you are personally accountable when it isn’t.
You are a strategic thinker grounded in technical reality. You can reason at the level of company partnerships and IP strategy while staying connected to what is actually happening in the fab.
You embody radical candor. You are comfortable challenging company decisions and telling CEO/CTO what is actually feasible. You accept and act on feedback. You tell your team what is expected. You surface problems early and drive them to resolution.
You are a builder of organizations. You attract strong people, create clarity, and foster a culture of high performance and mutual accountability.
You thrive under high expectations and in ambiguous environments. A startup building at the frontier of what semiconductor fabs can produce is inherently uncertain - you turn that uncertainty into structured action.
