CGI Supervisor
You'll sit within the Technology organization, reporting to the CTO , and be embedded day-to-day with the production teams. Your mandate is the bridge between tech, creative, and production : everything Engineering ships gets adopted on the floor, and production and creative realities shape the tech roadmap.
You'll own the full production process on each show, from 3D asset creation to final renders, implying you are comfortable across the whole pipeline rather than deep in one corner of it. TV series and features each demand a different setup: you'll define the right pipeline for each project, getting our tech stack production-ready, and protecting the creative vision through every technical decision.
You'll also carry delivery accountability on one pilot show running the new pipeline, because a pipeline that can't ship a show isn't a pipeline.
You'll also be Animaj's voice with external studios : the one who takes them through our workflows and methodologies, and makes sure every project gets the most out of our tech stack.
Internally as much as externally, you'll be the person everyone turns to on workflow and tech — and the one who makes the call when engineering, production and creative constraints don't align. Weighing all three and deciding the best way forward is a core part of the job.
Responsibilities
Eager to go beyond the status quo and inherited habits, you will be instrumental in deeply challenging the way CGI animation is produced. Your end goal is to build, with Engineering, a new production interface that has nothing to do with the production interface as the industry knows it today, continuously shaking up existing creative and production processes.
Thanks to your expert-level hands-on E-2-E experience in CG asset creation (including rig) and shot production , you'll define the right pipeline for each production, keeping technology, production, and creative aligned.
Work with all stakeholders (Engineering, TDs, Creative, Production, etc.) to ensure your workflows are fully implemented and are working in a scalable and streamlined fashion. In return, you feed production and creative pain points directly into the engineering roadmap.
When engineering , production , and creative pull in different directions, weigh it up and make the call . Find the fastest, most cost-effective way to hit the quality bar on each project; the best result for the least time and money, without compromising the work.
Ensure Animaj's AI technology is put at the heart of each of our productions, and facilitate its deployment and implementation.
Act as the CGI and animation expert across the company , including with the engineering team, so they build for how the work really happens. Give them clear, grounded feedback on Animaj tools; what's working, what's getting in the way, so the tech stack keeps improving.
You will be Animaj's voice with our external studios: you'll be guiding vendor studios on how to adapt to our pipeline and technology, take them through our workflows and tools, get them properly on board, and ensure full adoption. Get to know how each studio operates, and meet them where it helps - but bring them onto our methods where it counts.
Outcomes
After 30 days at Animaj:
- Completed a hands-on audit of the pipeline across all active productions and each vendor and/or partner studio's setup.
- Vendor Standard Practices documented and shared - the reference every partner studio works to.
- Technical intake gate installed : no rig, asset, or tool enters production untested.
- Fluent in our stack (Blender, Flow, AI/S2P/S2M tooling) and known to every partner studio as Animaj's branding - technical voice.
- Adoption map delivered : every Engineering release of the last 6 months rated adopted / partially adopted / dead on the floor, with root causes.
After 90 days at Animaj:
- Per-format pipeline standards (digital-first, TV series, feature film) documented and adopted, internally and by partner studios.
- Animaj's latest AI tooling or model deployed on at least one live production stage , with measured time savings.
- Every Engineering release has a named adoption owner and a floor-level implementation status, reviewed with the CTO and VP Production Innovation & Operations
- CG data requirements for training our models (sketch-to-pose, sketch-to-motion and successors) unblocked and flowing to engineering.
- Render-stage rework from technical causes measurably down; recognized as the reference voice on workflow calls.
After 6 months at Animaj:
- Pipeline E-2-E production-ready for our next premium series and feature-film development, including onboarding of the selected studio partners who are technically strong.
- Animatic-to-final-render aka E-2-E efforts on a clear downward trajectory.
- Vendor onboarding runs from a playbook; the engineering roadmap is visibly shaped by production-floor feedback.
- 6-8+ years in 3D/CG production for animated series & films , with significant time as a supervisor, lead or senior TD role, and credits as CGI supervisor on at least two ambitious projects.
- Supervising end-to-end CG pipeline , from asset creation through rigging, animation and lighting to final render.
- Strong in Blender (alternatively Maya), highly comfortable in the technical layer: pipeline tooling , production tracking (Flow), troubleshooting . Scripting (Python/MEL) is expected.
- You get genuinely excited by AI-native production tooling . Candidates who see AI as a threat to craft rather than a lever for it will not be a fit.
- A track record of managing external studios or outsourcing partners, being in charge of governing the technical choices and getting studios to adapt to your way of working.
- Comfortable across formats, from digital-first to TV to film, and steady in a fast , high-pressure environment.
- Fluent English
Nice to have:
- extensive rigging knowledge ,
- engineering background (or the ability to work as a peer with software engineers),
- experience with high-volume episodic, feature and digital-first work, and kids'/preschool animation.
- First interview with our VP of Production Innovation (30')
- Case Study
- On-site Focused interviews
- with our CTO and a Product Manager (45')
- with our Head of Production and a TD/artist from the floor (45')
- Final interview with our Co-Founder & CEO (45')
