CDI - Category Merchandiser – Retail W/M
As part of the transformation of its Retail model, Salomon is continuing to strengthen its merchandising expertise to enhance the relevance of in‑store assortments and better meet consumer expectations.
As a Retail Category Merchandiser, you will act as the link between category strategy and its execution across the Retail network, translating product strategies into assortments tailored to different store formats while balancing consumer insights, business objectives, and Retail realities.
You will work in an international and highly cross‑functional environment, collaborating with teams and stakeholders in Category Merchandising, Product, Retail, Sales, Planning, and Visual Merchandising.
You will bring your Retail expertise to the Category Merchandising team while contributing to the development of tools, processes, and best practices that support the evolution of Retail Merchandising at Salomon.
Responsibilities
Retail Assortment Planning
- Translate seasonal merchandising strategies into retail assortments aligned with business priorities and store formats.
- Build product assortments with the appropriate breadth and depth to deliver a strong in‑store consumer experience.
- Define Retail assortment principles aligned with category strategies.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment between Retail assortments, the master calendar, and key product launches.
- Contribute to the evolution of the Retail operating model, including store formats, segmentation, and store clustering initiatives.
Performance Analysis & Assortment Optimization
- Monitor and analyze key Retail KPIs—sales, margin, inventory, sell‑through, and stock rotation to identify assortment optimization opportunities.
- Support the achievement of merchandising objectives across channels, both during pre‑season planning and in‑season management.
- Leverage sell‑out analysis to continuously refine and optimize Retail assortments.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with commercial teams and regional markets to ensure local needs are reflected in Retail assortments.
- Influence and align stakeholders around merchandising recommendations based on data, consumer insights, and business priorities.
Processes & Tools Development
- Develop and formalize Retail merchandising tools, methodologies, and processes.
- Create and share assortment planning guidelines to drive consistency and best practices across the organization.
- Support teams in adopting new Retail Merchandising tools, processes, and ways of working.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in Retail Merchandising, Assortment Planning, or Category Merchandising.
- Strong understanding of DTC retail environments and store operations.
- Proven ability to build high‑performing assortments aligned with category strategies.
- Strong business and consumer mindset.
- Solid analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and translate insights into action.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze product and retail performance to optimize assortments.
- Ability to structure, formalize, and improve processes.
- Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills and the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Curious, agile, and adaptable profile, comfortable working in a fast‑changing and transforming environment.
- Fluent English required; French is a plus.
