Responsibilities
- Collaborating with Marketing and Formula development on new briefs to answer needs that are technically and financially viable and advising creative team on best way to achieve requested designs.
- Working closely with Procurement to answer Marketing briefs while respecting cost and gross margin targets.
- Conducting risk assessment studies and providing project feasibility: function, manufacturability, component and tooling cost, timetable, risks, and global consistency.
- Following up on new tooling development, validating technical drawings and providing printing area.
- Establishing homologation plans and conducting all necessary testing to validate success criteria.
- Conducting all aesthetic development (color matching, decoration).
- Reviewing/Approving Artwork files.
- Managing industrialization phase and attending line trials at contract manufacturers sites, to ensure components and finished goods are of the correct quality expectations for production.
- Working closely with Quality to provide component and finished good specifications. Approving quality standards and range boards for Components and Finished Goods.
- Validating tertiary packaging for finished goods and palletization plans.
- Overall, following up on the timelines and reporting regularly on status of development issues to the immediate supervisor and to the project managers. Identifying mitigations plans and ensuring their deployment.
- Working on optimization of existing components to improve quality, reduce cost and improve sustainability.
- Supporting sustainability programs specifically applied to packaging.
Qualifications
- Experience working in technical packaging roles, ideally in the Beauty industry, minimum 7 years.
- Academic qualifications: Scientific Bachelors (packaging, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or other relevant discipline).
- Capability of operating in a fast-moving projects pipeline.
- Willingness to work in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Problem-solving skills. Ability to identify smart solutions with the right level of pragmatism.
- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills for verbal and written communication of ideas, technical rationales, risks, issues, and recommendations.
- Able to travel when required.
