Buyer - Logistics

Envision AESC is the world’s leading battery technology company and lithium-ion battery manufacturer with battery plants in Japan, United Kingdom, United States and China. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of France’s highest profile manufacturing plants as Envision AESC is building a new battery manufacturing plant in Douai, Hauts-de-France to support its business growth in Europe.

We are an ambitious organization looking for an equally driven and innovative Buyer - Logistics to join the France Purchasing function. As part of a dynamic procurement team, you will focus on logistics-related indirect procurement (transportation, warehousing, 3PL/4PL, packaging and material handling equipment, customs brokerage, reverse logistics). You will lead sourcing, negotiations, and contract management to deliver cost optimization, service-level improvements, risk control, and efficient processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source and manage suppliers/carriers for road/air/ocean/rail, express/last-mile, warehousing/in-plant ops, 3PL/4PL, customs brokerage, packaging/returnable packaging, MHE (forklifts, AGVs).
• Run RFQ/RFPs for logistics categories; evaluate rates, service quality, capacity, compliance, and sustainability.
• Negotiate commercial terms and conditions (base rates, index/fuel surcharges, volumetric rules, accessorials, KPIs, bonus–malus).
• Govern contract compliance and risk (insurance, carrier qualifications, HSE); apply Incoterms and EU regulations.
• Analyze market trends (capacity, index movements, fuel and carbon costs) and supplier performance; build category strategies and annual saving plans.
• Partner cross-functionally (Production, Planning, Logistics Ops, Quality, Finance, IT) to optimize end-to-end flow (load consolidation, network design, mode mix, packaging standards).
• Review supplier contracts and agreements to ensure accuracy and alignment with negotiated terms.
• Collaborate with legal teams to address any contractual issues and ensure adherence to company policies.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement processes, suggesting efficiency enhancements and best practices.
• Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier interactions, and contract details.
• Generate regular reports on procurement metrics, supplier performance, and cost savings achievements.
• Undertake procurement tasks for other product categories in response to business changes.

Background and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s or Masters' degree in logistics, supply chain, business administration, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years in logistics procurement/3PL management/supply chain, ideally in manufacturing.
• Proficiency in using procurement softwaresuch as SAP, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms and pricing from suppliers. Familiarity with contract management and compliance principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
• Analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making abilities, strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
