Business Development and Marketing EMEA Market Group Lead – Paris and Luxembourg
The Business Development and Marketing EMEA Market Group Lead – Paris and Luxembourg will provide leadership of the function across a Market Grouping within EMEA and to offer proactive, effective BDMC services to Paris and Luxembourg. The role-holder will be the lead point of contact for BDMC issues from a Markets perspective for office leadership. They will lead and execute on initiatives for Paris and Luxembourg in alignment with Practice Group priorities for the Firm.
The individual will work collaboratively with EMEA Practice Group BD colleagues and effectively utilize resources with specialist and central functions and teams - including, but not limited to: Business Managers, Global Clients & Pursuits (Pitch), Global Client team, Pricing, Directories and Awards Submissions, Marketing, Communications, Design, and other Operations teams.
The role will form a key part of the EMEA BDMC leadership group, alongside the EMEA BDMC Director, the leads of other Market groups and the PG BD Leads.
Main responsibilities
- Primary Focus/responsibility: Provide Market leadership for Paris and Luxembourg
- Scope: Deliver market-specific expertise, help grow clients, build market reputation, manage office budgets
Strategic responsibilities
- Help partners drive the growth of the business from a Market Group perspective – focusing on clients important to the Paris and Luxembourg Markets
- Implement the PG strategies based on Market requirements for Paris and Luxembourg, considering local dynamics and client needs
- Involved across the BD and Marketing mix as appropriate, for Paris and Luxembourg
- Broader targeting across PGs within the Market Group
- Local client delivery and engagement – focus on local clients with potential for international growth, utilise appropriate BD and marketing channels to do so.
- Local Client Relationship Management, be programmatic around priority clients, manage the client pipeline in Paris and Luxembourg
- Oversight of pitches as required – working closely with PG teams and GCP where appropriate (with most pitches delivered along PG lines)
- Focus on local market or market group relevance and adapt for the client expectations in markets
- Pitch collaboration and coordinate across practices for the market, providing the market lens as needed
BD intelligence and reporting
- Drive market share locally. Be across local competitors and trends.
- Data focused, CRM tools, other sales enablement tools, market performance dashboards, market intelligence
Broader BDMC Engagement: Reputation and internal engagement
- Market reputation. Overall leadership of Marcomms, local events and delivery. Manage brand management issues locally
- Directories oversight from a markets perspective
- BD training support as required for the market
- Local affinity groups if relevant
- Infrastructure roll-outs and management of operational performance for BDMC tools and initiatives as required within Paris and Luxembourg
Within the remit of the Market Group Lead, management issues will include - Comms, Events and Marketing professionals based within the relevant Markets. Close day-to-day working relationship with PG BDs based in Paris and Luxembourg.
Skills and experience
- Educated to degree level and ideally with an additional business qualification / experience focusing on Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Communications or related commercial subjects
- Extensive experience (12+ years) in business development, client relationship management preferably with an international law firm or other professional/financial services environment
- Deep business acumen and understanding of strategic and business planning gained through experience in mid-to-senior level roles, as well as strong financial acumen
- Proven track record of delivering on client relationships and revenues, as well as developing and delivering on metrics
- Leadership experience ideally, with strong experience managing a Business Development department
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact and influence at senior levels of the Firm
- Fluent written and spoken English is required, full business level proficiency
- Strong Leadership skills, high EQ, with an ability to coach and inspire others
- An appreciation of, and experience of matrix management across multiple offices/countries
- A collegiate approach and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, management and leadership across EMEA and the Firm more widely

Reports to
EMEA BDMC Director. Locally also work closely with respective Managing Partners.
Travel requirements
Some travel will be expected between Paris and Luxembourg. Some possible travel for regional meetings, trainings, etc, may be required as necessary or appropriate from time to time.
