Job Description

Job Title : Building Supervisor (with supervision)

Reports To : School Principal

Responsible For : The supervision of the Assistant Building Supervisor and/or cleaning staff (if appropriate)

Key Responsibilities

• Security : Security of the premises (including school meals accommodation) and its contents; open and close the premises and grounds; ensure windows, doors and gates are secured at the end of each day; safe custody of premises keys; operate and monitor security camera system; operate fire and burglar alarm and report faults; respond to after-hour break-ins or vandalism and secure/clean premises as directed; report suspicious activity and security breaches to the designated line manager.
• Mechanical and Electrical Services : Efficient operation of boiler/heating system; lighting and heating of premises; routine maintenance of plant; ensure adequate fuel; monitor and document usage of fuel, water and electricity; replace lamps and fixtures to accessible heights; inspect and report defects on firefighting equipment; chemically dose, clean and maintain water levels of swimming/hydrotherapy pools.
• Cleaning : Clean premises (excluding accommodation used solely for school meals); plan, organise and control cleaning staff (if appropriate); plan periodic work with service users and report plans; implement changes to improve economy or standards; monitor materials and equipment suitability; ensure external surfaces, drains and grease traps are clean and free flowing; manage waste and litter; provide ongoing cleaning service for spills, flooding, toilet areas, weather-related issues; replenish toilet rolls, soaps, paper towels; inspect sandpits and remove fouling; clean and replace c
