Company Overview

CT19 are partnering with an early‑stage DeepTech, founded in 2023, who are developing a new approach to quality control in industrial environments (food and beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceutical manufacturing etc).

Traditional microbiological quality control methods often involve operational constraints and long waiting times for results and their platform is designed to detect bacterial contamination rapidly using advanced optical technologies and machine‑learning approaches.

The team brings together expertise in biology, physics, engineering, and data science to build scalable solutions for industrial microbiology monitoring.

Role Overview

  • Lead the design and optimization of surface functionalization strategies for antibody‑based microbial capture and detection
  • Develop and refine immunoassays and biointerfaces to improve bacterial detection performance
  • Design, test, and optimize microfluidic systems for sample handling, reaction control, and assay signal readout
  • Apply biophysical principles governing biomolecular interactions to improve assay sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility, and stability
  • Investigate and optimize surface‑antibody‑antigen interactions to enhance capture efficiency and detection limits
  • Define and execute experimental plans, analyze complex datasets, and translate findings into practical assay improvements
  • Collaborate closely with biology, hardware, and software teams to integrate assays into a functional detection platform
  • Contribute to technology transfer, robustness testing, and scaling toward industrial deployment
  • Document work thoroughly, support IP generation , and contribute to technical decision‑making

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Biophysics, Bioengineering, Physical Chemistry , or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in applied R&D or product development environments.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience with surface functionalization and biointerface engineering .
  • Solid understanding of biomolecular interactions and bioassay development .
  • Ability to work independently and take technical ownership within a fast‑paced development environment.
  • Experience with biosensors, immunoassays, or rapid microbial detection technologies .
  • Familiarity with surface characterization techniques such as AFM, SPR, contact angle measurement, or fluorescence‑based analysis.
  • Experience transitioning technologies from research prototypes to industrial or commercial systems .
  • Exposure to regulated or industrial sectors such as food safety, diagnostics, or in vitro diagnostics (IVD)
