This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and research, building the systems that power large-scale open-source intelligence initiatives. As a backend developer, you will collaborate closely with researchers to transform experimental prototypes into reliable, production-grade services. You’ll take ownership of backend projects end-to-end, from architecture design to deployment, in a highly autonomous environment. The position involves working with complex data pipelines and scalable systems that support advanced analytical and intelligence efforts.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that support large-scale open-source intelligence collection
- Build and manage APIs that enable other teams to access and utilize collected data efficiently
- Transform research prototypes into robust, production-ready services with strong architecture and observability
- Define and evolve system architecture and data pipelines to support research and analytical workflows
- Ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability across backend services handling large datasets
- Own backend projects end-to-end, from initial scoping and design to deployment and ongoing optimization
- Collaborate closely with researchers and engineers to align technical solutions with research needs
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of backend development experience using Python, JavaScript, or similar modern programming languages
- Proven experience building and operating high-scale systems and working with large datasets
- Strong track record of delivering and maintaining production services, ideally in a SaaS environment
- Ability to work independently, managing projects from concept to delivery with minimal supervision
- Solid understanding of system design, API development, and data pipeline architecture
- Familiarity with modern development practices, including testing, monitoring, and observability
- AI-first mindset, with experience leveraging LLMs or automation tools to enhance productivity
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex technical challenges
Nice To Have
- Experience in cybersecurity environments or startups
- Knowledge of malware analysis, reverse engineering, or web penetration testing
- Participation in Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions
- Experience with ETL pipelines and data processing workflows
- Familiarity with technologies such as Redis, PostgreSQL, and Kafka
