Backend Developer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance solutions for the MYM back‑end platform.
• Lead the transition from a monolith architecture to a distributed ecosystem of microservices.
• Develop and maintain core business logic in PHP 8 / Symfony 6.4 and upgrade to Symfony 7.
• Architect and implement new, high‑performance services in Go.
• Balance evolution of existing features with strategic rewriting of services into modern technologies.
• Ensure data integrity across PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and document databases.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical standards within the team.
• Guarantee quality and reliability by writing robust automated tests (unit, integration, and end‑to‑end with Playwright) and ensuring system health through continuous monitoring and observability.
• Collaborate with the squad to design and architect deliverables and solutions.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure technical strategies align with product goals.
• Share technical expertise, technology watch, and upskill the team through internal training.
• Promote continuous improvement and DevX practices such as CI/CD and monitoring.

Challenges

• Performance: Handle a peak load of 10,000 requests per second.
• Reliability: Process and evolve a system handling 11 TB of transactional data.
• Impact: Build features for a global community of 19 M users and 130 k daily active users.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Track record of building and scaling systems in high‑traffic environments.
• Proven proficiency in PHP (Symfony) and Golang.
• Pragmatic problem‑solving mindset; comfortable maintaining legacy monolith while building future platform.
• Full‑system vision: awareness of deployments, dependencies, monitoring, and security.
• Modern database experience: PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Curiosity and drive, accountability, positivity, structured argumentation, and collaborative excellence.

Skills

• Go services and legacy PHP 7/8 (Symfony 6) stack.
• REST API, webhooks, and websockets.
• Postman for API development and testing.
• PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• AWS environment.
• Playwright for automated testing.
• Jira, Notion, and Figma for collaboration.
