B2 Licensed Helicopter Avionics Technician

The B2 Licensed Helicopter Avionics Technician shall perform and, where duly authorised by the Company, certify electrical and avionics maintenance on helicopters operated or maintained within Rotortrade’s EASA Part-145 environment. The role covers avionics and electrical systems within the privileges of an EASA Part-66 B2 licence, using approved maintenance data and in compliance with applicable European aviation requirements, French workplace rules and Rotortrade procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on helicopter electrical and avionics systems, including electrical power, instruments, communication, navigation, surveillance, warning, recording and automatic flight-control systems.
• Carry out inspections, fault isolation, troubleshooting, wiring repairs, equipment replacement, installations, modifications, software or database loading where applicable, and functional or operational tests in accordance with approved maintenance data.
• Assess the condition and serviceability of avionics equipment, wiring and installations and promptly report defects, discrepancies, damage or airworthiness concerns through approved reporting channels.
• Use current aircraft maintenance manuals, wiring-diagram manuals, component maintenance information, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, engineering orders and other approved technical data.
• Use and care for calibrated avionics test equipment, electrical measuring instruments, tooling and ground-support equipment in accordance with Company procedures.
• Complete work cards, task sheets, technical records and maintenance documentation accurately, legibly and within the required timeframes.
• Where holding the appropriate aircraft type rating, competence and Company certification authorisation, certify maintenance and issue a certificate of release to service within the limits of the EASA Part-66 licence and Rotortrade authorisation.
• When acting as support staff during base maintenance, verify that relevant tasks and inspections have been completed to the required standard before release by appropriately authorised certifying staff.
• Apply Part-145 procedures relating to tooling, calibration, independent inspections, critical maintenance tasks, electrostatic-discharge protection, foreign-object prevention, parts control, occurrence reporting and shift or task handover.
• Comply with all applicable safety, environmental, human-factors, quality and security requirements and actively contribute to the Company safety-management and compliance culture.
• Coordinate with B1.3 personnel, Engineering/Bureau Technique, CAMO, Quality, Logistics and Program teams to support efficient maintenance inputs and aircraft deliveries.
• Support aircraft inspections, pre-purchase evaluations, technical acceptances, demonstrations and return-to-service activities.
• Travel within France, elsewhere in Europe and internationally when required for aircraft inspections, acceptances, maintenance support or visits to OEM and supplier facilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid EASA Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence in category B2.
• Relevant helicopter type rating(s) recorded on the licence are strongly preferred; the scope of certification will depend on licence endorsements, competence assessment and Company authorisation.
• Practical experience in helicopter avionics or electrical maintenance within an EASA Part-145 organisation or an equivalent regulated environment; approximately 1–3 years of relevant post-qualification experience is preferred.
• Ability to satisfy applicable continuation-training, competence and recent-experience requirements for certifying or support staff.
• Good knowledge of Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014, including Part-66 and Part-145 requirements relevant to the position.
• Professional working proficiency in French and sufficient technical English to understand maintenance data, complete records and communicate with international customers, OEMs and colleagues.
• Right to work in France and ability to travel for business within the European Union and internationally.
• Valid driving licence is preferred due to the location and travel requirements of the position.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of helicopter electrical generation and distribution, communication, navigation, instrumentation, surveillance, warning and automatic flight-control systems.
• Ability to read and correctly apply wiring diagrams, system schematics, maintenance manuals, modification data and approved test procedures.
• Structured fault-finding and sound technical judgement, with the discipline to stop and escalate whenever approved data, competence or authorisation is insufficient.
• High standards of workmanship in wiring, crimping, bonding, continuity and insulation testing, equipment installation and maintenance documentation.
• Clear communication and effective cooperation within a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to organise work, manage priorities and perform reliably in a time-sensitive maintenance environment.
• Autonomy, adaptability and a practical, solution-oriented approach while respecting regulatory and organisational limits.
• Strong commitment to aviation safety, quality, compliance and just-culture principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current type rating and recent experience on helicopter types maintained or traded by Rotortrade.
• Previous experience with aircraft inspections, technical acceptances, pre-purchase evaluations or aircraft deliveries.
• Experience with avionics upgrades, wiring-harness fabrication and repair, integrated-system troubleshooting or specialised avionics test equipment.
• Previous EASA Part-145 certification authorisation or support-staff experience.
• Additional OEM training or recognised technical qualifications in avionics, electrical systems or helicopter maintenance.
