Avionics Computer Safety Architect

Job Description

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for an Avionics Computer Safety Architect (f/m) to join our Avionics Products Development department based in Toulouse, France .

We are currently developing several brand-new computers based on the Avionics product line while establishing new ways of working and maintaining legacy Avionics products.

Responsibilities

• The development of a new Avionic computer – usually based on the Avionics product line
• The development of a new version of a legacy Avionic computer
• The follow‑up of legacy Avionic computers

Both types of development require the following main safety & reliability activities:

• Assess safety and reliability characteristics of the computer in collaboration with specialists and experts on all required competencies (e.g. hardware, software, quality)
• Contribute to the definition of the safest computer architecture with the product, hardware, and software architects
• Follow product maturity with a safety focus – through V&V anomaly analysis, prioritization of anomaly corrections, and industrialisation follow‑up
• Secure safety analysis and demonstration for certification

Follow‑up of legacy Avionic computers mainly encompasses safety analysis of problems encountered in service and related safety recommendations.

You will be supported by the Technical Authority and/or domain experts for trade‑offs, negotiations with external bodies, and support in preparing certification evidence.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in equipment/systems level development with hardware & software experience
• Good knowledge of safety & reliability methodologies and approaches
• Good knowledge of aeronautical stakes and regulations (e.g. ARP4754, DO178, DO254, DO160)
• Strong analysis and synthesis skills
• Excellent communication & negotiation skills
• Negotiation level in French and English required
