Avionics Architect - Electronics Technical Manager (M/F)

As part of its SmallSat development projects, U‑Space is hiring an Avionics Architect – Electronics Technical Lead (M/F). Within the Hardware department, which comprises the Mechanical/Thermal, Equipment, and Avionics divisions, you will assume technical responsibility for the Avionics division. You will be responsible for the avionics architecture of our satellites and serve as the technical point of contact for the team of Electronics Engineers. Your mission is to lead the development of in‑house equipment (“MAKE”) while ensuring its transition to industrial‑scale production.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the technical lead for the EPS functional chain of products and new satellite developments.
  • Overseeing the full lifecycle of internally designed equipment, from drafting specifications (requirements, procurement, testing) to producing justification documents and user manuals.
  • Providing technical guidance to routing partners and EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) to ensure smooth and optimized mass production.
  • Mentoring electronics engineers, defining business processes, and specifying tools to increase the department’s operational efficiency.
  • Leading avionics R&D projects and helping define the roadmap to maintain our competitiveness in the market.
  • Proactively contributing ideas regarding product maintenance, improvements, and the design of the next generation of SmallSats.
  • Coordinating the automation of health checks and acceptance procedures to ensure the successful delivery of programs.

The ideal candidate

You hold a master’s degree in Electronic Engineering and have significant experience in the development or integration of electronic equipment gained in the space industry.

You have a strong command of satellite avionics architectures. You are familiar with equipment architectures based on System‑on‑Chip (SoC) technology. You are knowledgeable about the primary communication buses used in the space industry and the associated hardware constraints.

You have a solid understanding of risks related to the space environment, radiation, and component selection, as well as satellite development methods.

You have full technical authority over your area of responsibility and are capable of making critical decisions regarding the robustness and lifespan of our satellites in orbit.

You possess a keen eye for detail and meticulous documentation skills, which are essential for transforming first‑of‑series prototypes into reliable, repeatable industrial products.

A natural leader, you know how to rally a technical team and collaborate closely with other departments to ensure the achievement of the company’s objectives.

You possess the boldness necessary to make decisions with controlled risk, propose technological breakthroughs, and optimize architectures to reduce costs and ensure program delivery.

Your knowledge of NewSpace would be greatly appreciated.
