The Team: You will be part of the EMEA commercial team based in Paris reporting to the Head of Sales Southern Europe and Africa. The successful candidate is a commercially driven professional who will execute the sales strategy in FraBeLux for S&P Global Ratings across corporates, and regional and local governments. This role requires strong market knowledge, senior client engagement skills, and the ability to manage the full business development cycle from origination through closing. As an Associate Director at Grade 12, you will take an enterprise perspective to all your work, connecting current operational activity to our wider vision while using in‑depth professional knowledge to monitor external trends and develop strategic solutions.

Responsibilities
- Develop strong two‑way relationships with our clients and prospects to achieve revenue targets and meet strategic account objectives, incorporating AI‑driven client analytics to enhance relationship strategies.
- Build and manage senior‑level relationships with decision‑makers across finance, treasury, corporate development, and legal functions utilizing automated CRM tools and predictive analytics.
- Drive proactive client and influencer engagement through meetings, relationship‑building initiatives, and coordinated commercial outreach supported by machine‑learning–powered market insights.
- Lead the sales process end to end, including opportunity development, proposal discussions, contract negotiation, and closing. Manage complex negotiations of commercial contracts leveraging automated workflow tools and AI‑assisted proposal generation.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the credit rating and sustainability landscape to identify client needs and position relevant solutions effectively through automated market monitoring and AI‑powered trend analysis.
- Identify upsell and cross‑sell opportunities. Utilize market knowledge and intelligence gleaned from clients to work collaboratively with Ratings Product Development and other segments of S&P Global to maximize opportunities and develop new products using predictive modeling and automated opportunity scoring systems.
- Assess market developments to determine the opportunities for product evolution and enhancement to help grow the S&P Ratings business through AI‑enhanced market intelligence.
- Partner with Marketing, Market Outreach and other internal stakeholders to devise and execute business growth activities across the region using automated campaign management tools.
- Operate within the regulatory and compliance frameworks laid down by the organization.
- All employees must work from the office at least two days a week.
Basic Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in business development or relationship management within financial services, capital markets, or related sectors.
- Strong experience in the world of financial services and capital markets with demonstrated ability to take an enterprise perspective and connect operational activity to broader strategic vision.
- Good understanding of DCM (Debt Capital Markets) market and corporate finance, preferably including experience of sustainable finance needs and solutions.
- An outgoing person with the ability to connect with customers to develop strong, long‑term and mutually beneficial relationships. Skills that support full identification of customer problems and needs, with the ability to diagnose a solution to meet the client's needs.
- Fluency in French and English is a must.
- An ability to use insight selling skills to identify opportunities, prioritize them and see them through to a solution. An inquisitive and organized self‑starter.
- A broad understanding of the business needs of large and small issuers, plus other market stakeholders in the ratings industry such as intermediaries and investors.
- The candidate ideally should have a track record of doing business in France or in Belgium and be prepared to travel within the region.
- Knowledge of S&P Global Ratings products and services and how they relate to customers.
- Superior presentation, oral and written communication skills with ability to adapt style to different situations and effectively respond to adversity.
- Final‑stage candidates must attend one in‑person interview at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office before offer.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Salesforce preferred, but not essential, or similar AI‑powered CRM platforms with machine learning features.
- Bachelor's degree (in Business Administration with majors in accountancy, finance, economics, or banking) would be beneficial with exposure to fintech and digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience leveraging data analytics and automation tools to optimize sales processes and client engagement strategies.
