Associate, Project Finance
Overview

The Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB) division covers international client relationships and main financing products, including Syndication, Structured & Project Finance, Securitisation, Working Capital Solutions, and ECA financing. ESFO (Structured Finance) is responsible for marketing, originating, and structuring project finance transactions in the EMEA region, with a focus on infrastructure and energy sectors. The ESFO Paris team handles structured finance for French-based clients and, with the Madrid team, leads transactions across Southern Europe. The ESFO Paris Team collaborates with product specialists in London under the GCIB Cross-Border Framework.
Responsibilities
- Operate as a product expert, contributing to origination, structuring, and execution of project finance products.
- Collaborate closely with relationship managers and cross-product specialists to manage client interactions and support product development, risk solutions, distribution, and cross-sell opportunities.
- Contribute to the Structured Finance Office for EMEA (ESFO) within GCIB, including market positioning and client engagement across the region.
- Lead or assist internal projects to maximise sales and revenue generation, fostering collaboration and high performance.
- Develop marketing materials, assist in deal screening, and liaise with clients at counterpart level to respond to routine queries and ensure high levels of customer service.
- Work with internal partners and stakeholders (including Portfolio Asset Management) and support the financial modeller on deal teams.
- Prepare information memorandums and participate in Deal Screening Committee processes; support the execution of advisory mandates under supervision of senior staff.
- Oversee and manage internal processes for compliance and execution (KYC, profitability analysis, committee approvals, legal due diligence, closing checklists).
- Contribute to wider division projects and facilitate marketing and origination of transactions within the MUFG product suite.

Qualifications and Experience
Education Degree level and/or relevant industry expertise.
Experience
- Essential: 3-4 years of experience in investment banking finance with a focus on structured finance; project finance experience in a complex financial services environment; exposure to due diligence, modeling, and execution across the full transaction lifecycle.
- Beneficial: Advisory experience.
Functional and Foundational Skills
- Ability to use financial models to assess project viability; deep understanding of credit documentation and structuring; interpretation of key financial ratios and risk metrics.
- Familiarity with project-related contracts; strong IT literacy; quantitative skills; commercial acumen and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to manage large workloads under tight deadlines; high attention to detail; calm under pressure; effective communication.
- Analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities; collaborative and results-driven with accountability.
- Understanding of industry trends and best practices; adaptability, optimism, resilience, and inclusivity.
Language
French and English fluent; Spanish or Italian fluency is a plus.
