Assistant Human Resources Manager
Belmond is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Assistant Human Resources Manager to join The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, a Belmond Train team.
In this role, you will provide essential support to the Director of Human Resources in overseeing daily HR operations, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
You will play a pivotal role in the administration of HR policies, employee relations, recruitment processes, and training initiatives within the company.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Support overall HR operations with a broad and hands‑on approach across the business
- Ensure occasional presence in Venice offices and onboard train operations
- Oversee and coordinate the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, contract amendments, promotions, transfers, and offboarding
- Prepare offer letters, employment contracts, unemployment forms, certificates, and end‑of‑contract documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Maintain and regularly update employee databases, HR records, and personnel archives
- Support the implementation and follow‑up of new payroll processes, ensuring accurate employee data and timely submissions
- Fully support and conduct the payroll process, ensuring accurate submissions, proper follow‑up, and providing relevant feedback and guidance to HODs regarding payroll‑related matters and roster compliance
- Manage and monitor insurance administration and employee benefits processes
- Prepare HR reports, dashboards, and workforce analysis to support management decisions
- Ensure compliance with company policies, labor regulations, and internal HR procedures
- Support HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives across departments
- Provide guidance and day‑to‑day support to the HR team while overseeing task coordination and follow‑up
- Contribute to employee development initiatives and support managers on HR‑related matters
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols, including those established by the railway authorities
- Follow environmental regulations and take measures to minimize our environmental impact, demonstrating environmental awareness in all actions
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 3‑4 years of demonstrated experience in human resources, preferably within the hospitality or luxury services industry
- Comprehensive knowledge of French labor laws, employment standards, and HR best practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage employee relations and collaborate across departments
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with an acute attention to detail
- Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information
- Proficiency with HR information systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work proactively and efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Fluency in French & English is required
- Willing to travel
