Assistant/Associate Professor in embedded and distributed AI - Fixed-term contract of 3 years
Télécom Paris , an international multidisciplinary center for education, research, and innovation, is a leader in the digital world.
We are seeking a female or male Assistant/Associate Professor to join the Autonomous Critical Embedded Systems (ACES) team within the Computer Science and Networks Department (INFRES) .
Join a dynamic team to tackle the challenges of embedded and distributed AI , at the heart of critical systems (IoT, autonomous vehicles, robotics). Your mission: rethink algorithms and architectures for constrained environments (computing, memory, energy), while ensuring reliability, robustness, and verifiability of systems.
The key challenges include:
- Model optimization (compression, pruning, quantization, NAS) for efficient deployment at the edge (edge computing).
- Continuous and adaptive learning in dynamic environments, with security and resilience guarantees.
- Hardware/software co-design for multi-agent and distributed systems, integrating lightweight foundation models (LLM, VLA) for robotic or humanoid applications.
- Integration of formal methods for verifying functional and non-functional properties (safety, real-time, cybersecurity).
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Participating in the design and implementation of teaching in your scientific field.
- Conducting research in your scientific field.
- Contributing to the development of partnerships, collaborations, and contractual relationships .
Job requirements
We are looking for candidates whose work revolves around embedded AI, distributed systems, and formal methods , with an interdisciplinary approach. Key skills include (non-exhaustive list):
- Machine learning and deep learning (optimization, fine-tuning, reinforcement learning).
- Embedded systems and edge AI (hardware constraints, energy efficiency).
- Multi-agent systems and robotics (coordination, distributed control, swarm robotics).
- Formal verification and dependability (modeling, specification, robustness analysis).
- Proficiency in English .
- Scientific excellence: Renowned laboratories (LTCI, i3, CREST), cutting-edge equipment, and international recognition.
- Multidisciplinarity: Working at the intersection of all areas of digital technology.

The selection process takes place in 4 steps:
- Exchange with the host team to establish a list of shortlisted candidate
