About the role

As an Enterprise Architect at Cognite, you will be an integral part of our Expert Services Offerings department within the Value Delivery organization. Your primary responsibility will be to work directly with clients to understand their operational challenges and craft tailored technological solutions that address their needs. This role requires close collaboration with field sales teams, delivery teams, and product development to ensure the successful deployment and integration of Cognite's solutions. You will leverage your extensive experience and technical expertise to help industrial clients improve productivity and profitability while simultaneously reducing environmental impact and operational costs. Your role will also involve mentoring internal teams, contributing to the development of best practices, and ensuring solutions adhere to industry standards and client specifications.

What you'll do

• Collaborate closely with clients to understand their operational challenges and define solutions that drive measurable improvements.
• Utilize your technical skills, especially in Python, to support the integration, customization, and deployment of Cognite Data Fusion solutions in client environments.
• Develop comprehensive enterprise architecture and technical solution designs, including data integration models, data pipelines, and user-oriented applications tailored to client needs.
• Build and nurture strong relationships with stakeholders, including clients, partners, and internal teams, to promote long-term adoption and success of Cognite's solutions.
• Provide strategic and technical guidance during project planning, execution, and delivery phases, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with client objectives.
• Mentor and coach internal teams, partners, and clients' technical staff to enhance their understanding of architecture best practices and the use of Cognite's products.
• Work collaboratively with sales teams to support pre-sales activities, including technical demonstrations, solution presentations, and proof-of-concept development.
• Translate client requirements into technical specifications and architecture blueprints, ensuring solutions are robust and meet industry standards.
• Lead technical workshops and training sessions to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure successful adoption of new systems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by sharing insights and lessons learned from client engagements.
• Ensure all solutions comply with relevant industry standards, security protocols, and client-specific regulations.
• Assist in developing project timelines, resource planning, and risk management strategies to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to bring innovative ideas into client solutions.

Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in roles such as Software Engineer, Data Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, or Solutions Architect, demonstrating a progression into senior and leadership positions.
• At least 5 years of experience in a Solutions Architect, Technical Architect, or Enterprise Architect role, with a proven track record of delivering end-to-end solutions for large-scale clients.
• Experience working with large-scale SaaS software, B2B applications, or within technology organizations operating in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
• Strong backend software engineering skills, with practical expertise in Python and/or Java, and the ability to develop complex, high-quality code when necessary.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise solution architectures, including data ingestion pipelines, API design, microservices architecture, and cloud-native solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage technical projects from conception through to delivery, ensuring solutions meet client expectations and industry standards.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of liaising effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to software development, data management, and enterprise architecture.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, and product management, to translate client needs into technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with data modeling tools and architecture modeling frameworks.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including deployment and management of cloud-native applications.
• Knowledge of industry standards in software development, security, and compliance.
• Experience working in international or multicultural teams, with the ability to adapt to diverse working environments.
• Certification in enterprise architecture frameworks or cloud platforms would be advantageous.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in Python and/or Java programming languages.
• Strong understanding of SQL and REST API integration.
• Experience with data connectors and extractors from Cognite's platform.
• Familiarity with cloud service providers and their integration methods.
• Ability to design and implement scalable data pipelines and APIs.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of security best practices in cloud and enterprise environments.
• Experience with data modeling and architecture modeling tools.
