Role Overview
- Our future work‑study student (apprentice) currently pursuing an Engineering degree or a Master’s degree in Chemistry, who will join the Haircare team within our Home and Personal Care (HPC) laboratory at the R&I Center in Aubervilliers (93).
- The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating and evaluating the performance of ingredients used in haircare product compositions (shampoos, styling products, etc.).
- You will work on developing new ingredients to expand Syensqo’s portfolio, on the physico‑chemical characterization of formulations (appearance, viscosity, pH, stability), and on setting up appropriate performance evaluation methods through various in‑vitro/in‑vivo application tests.
Responsibilities
- Analyze the state of the art and conduct literature research.
- Carry out laboratory trials, formulate, and understand the impact of ingredient combinations on observed performance.
- Test, characterize, and evaluate performance using application tests (sensory analysis and instrumental evaluation on hair).
- Contribute to the development of evaluation methods tailored to project needs.
- Explore and propose innovative solutions.
- Deepen understanding of innovative ingredient formulation.
- Present and summarize results obtained and collaborate with the different project stakeholders.
- Work in compliance with HSE rules.
What We Expect
- Enrollment in an Engineering program or a Master’s degree in chemistry / physical chemistry / formulation.
- Initial experience/knowledge in formulation or performance evaluation in personal care (sensory/instrumental/biological) or in materials science is a plus.
- Interest in developing a detailed understanding of how ingredients contribute to final formula performance.
- Strong analytical skills and initiative.
- Team spirit and a collaborative mindset.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and benefits package. The reasonably expected monthly base salary for this position ranges from €1,100 to €2,000. Compensation will be determined based on factors such as the type of contract, age, and education level, and may ultimately be higher or lower than the stated salary.
