Data Science Intern

As a Data Science Intern at Betclic, you will contribute to impactful projects, working on real‑world challenges where advanced modelling meets business needs, with a strong focus on interpretability and clear communication of results.

Responsibilities

• Working on implicit score optimisation and content‑based model fine‑tuning to improve recommendation systems in the Casino app, focusing on personalisation performance, evaluation metrics, and model interpretability for stakeholders.
• Exploring forecasting approaches and strategies for horse racing, enhancing player experience and assisting business teams in planning and optimisation.
• Working on generic use cases such as fraud classification/detection and identity document validation.
• Collaborating with Data Scientists, Product Owners, and business teams to align models with operational needs and ensure measurable impact.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field; seeking a gap‑year internship.
• Strong analytical skills, rigorous, autonomous, and able to synthesize insights.
• Proficient in Python and a good understanding of SQL.
• Desire to grow skills in communication and presentation, making complex models understandable.

Nice to Have

• Previous exposure to recommendation systems, forecasting, or customer analytics.
• Familiarity with libraries such as XGBoost, LightGBM, or deep learning frameworks.
• Interest in sports or gaming industries (not required).

Recruitment Process

If your application is selected, you will be contacted within a week for a short HR pre‑screening. Subsequent interviews include meeting your future supervisor and the Chief Data Officer. The recruitment process typically takes 4 to 6 weeks.
