Applied AI Engineer, Use-case
Mistral AI is seeking a Applied AI Engineer to facilitate the adoption of its products among customers and collaborate with them to address complex technical challenges.
The Applied AI Engineer will be an integral part of our Applied AI Engineering team, which is dedicated to driving the successful deployment of Mistral AI products. They will work hand‑in‑hand with customers from the pre‑sale stage to post‑implementation, ensuring our solutions meet and exceed client expectations.
In this role, you’ll manage daily customer relations involving multiple stakeholders (CEO/CTO, data scientists, and software engineers) and function as a key resource in externalising our research in production settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Onboard customers on our products and APIs, provide guidance on prompting, evaluation, and fine‑tuning, and ensure best production integration with back‑end and front‑end interfaces.
- Work on cutting‑edge GenAI applications from consumer products to industrial use cases, driving crucial technological transformation with customers.
- Help deploy production use cases with considerable business impact across various industries.
- Collaborate with researchers, AI engineers, and product engineers on complex projects involving fine‑tuning, LLM applications, and contribute to open‑source codebases for inference and fine‑tuning.
- Participate in pre‑sales calls to understand clients’ needs, challenges, and aspirations, provide technical guidance, and explain Mistral technologies to stakeholders.
- Work with product and science teams to continuously improve product and model capabilities based on customer feedback.
You may be a good fit if
- Fluent in English
- Hold a PhD or Master in AI, data science
- Have 2+ years as a technical individual contributor (machine learning engineer, data scientist, or software engineer) on AI‑based products
- Experience with fine‑tuning LLMs, advanced RAG, or agentic use cases
- Experience with MLOps and deploying ML use cases at scale
- Deep understanding of concepts and algorithms underlying machine learning and LLMs
- Experience building and deploying LLM or NLP applications
- Proven experience in AI or ML product implementation with APIs, back‑end, and front‑end interfaces
- Strong coding skills in Python
- Experience in deep learning with PyTorch
- Experience with agents frameworks such as LangChain and vector databases
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences
Ideally you have
- Experience as a Customer Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Product Manager
- Contributions to open‑source projects, especially in the space of LLMs
