The Position

What awaits you:

The Regional Customer Support Center is responsible for technical and application-related customer service for Roche instruments and reagents. As an Application Specialist Bioinformatics (m/f/d), you are the direct contact for bioinformatics-related inquiries from our field staff and our customers in hospitals, research and private laboratories.

As a Bioinformatics Specialist you will have the following tasks:

  • You are responsible for the bioinformatics support of Roche Diagnostics sequencing products with the aim of ensuring the availability of the systems and the quality of the results for our national and international customers and you will leverage your technical expertise in Bioinformatics and NGS technologies to support Roche Diagnostics Sequencing products, drive customer satisfaction and increase sales revenue.
  • You will act as a key resource, providing expert-level support and advanced troubleshooting for complex bioinformatic issues related to NGS analysis and Roche Sequencing products.
  • You will handle telephone and written inquiries from customers and Roche employees in EMEA countries.
  • In collaboration with the country organizations and global units, you record and process complaints.
  • You conduct both customer and employee training in the regional customer support center.
  • You monitor our service processes and general product/system quality.

Who you are:

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or a related field, with a strong record of high-throughput data analysis. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, combined with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • You have at least 3 years of professional experience in a research or service institution in which you have acquired in-depth knowledge in the field of next generation sequencing technologies.
  • Exceptional communication, data presentation, and visualization skills. Highly effective in written and verbal communication, organization, and prioritization.
  • Practical experience in designing, developing, documenting, and deploying bioinformatics pipelines for NGS applications, including Target enrichment, Comprehensive Genomic Profiling, Whole Exome Sequencing, and Whole Genome Sequencing.
  • Expertise in clinical bioinformatics involving the organization, analysis and interpretation of patient-related NGS data, converting them into clinically useful information to foster optimal patients' care, is considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems administration and network architecture is required.
  • You are motivated to travel to other European countries - even at short notice.
  • You have a good knowledge of the IVD market as well as a sound scientific background in the areas of genomics and oncology as well as in the product and market environment.
  • You can quickly analyze problems and present an adequate solution.
  • You enjoy working in an intercultural team and are a competent contact for customers and colleagues.
  • You speak English fluently; Knowledge of German and/or other European languages is an advantage.
