We are currently searching for an APP to work withour providers in our Mt. Airy location.

The Physician Assistant will be responsible forproviding medical care as delegated by OrthoCarolina physician(s). Responsibilities includeassistingthe physician in the clinic seeing patients with a variety of orthopedic injuries and illnesses.

Essential Functions:

  • Examinespatient, performs comprehensive physicalexamination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons/staff.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Assesses,appliesand/or removes a variety of orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, appliesappropriate codesand charges for service, and assistsin provision of continuity of care.
  • Dictates patient records including discharge summaries, history and physical evaluations, operative procedure notes,consultationsand office visit notes. Documentspatient information and care provided in patientrecord. Usescomputerto access/enter needed data.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Accurately evaluate patient problems in person or via phone andprovidingappropriate advice,interventionor referral.
  • Skill in evaluating and revising care plans based on patient changes.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.

Current in the following:

  • North Carolina licensure
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Prior experience as aphysician assistantisrequired. Prior experience in the field of orthopedics is preferred.
