Offer Description
Organisation/Company: Université Sorbonne Paris Nord
Position: PhD Student
The PRCE e‑Splint project (ANR‑25‑CE51‑1325‑02), bringing together two academic partners—Itodys and Santé Orale—and the company Elventive France, aims to design, manufacture and validate a prototype of an instrumented, multimodal and connected dental splint, designed for the biochemical (pH, blood glucose) and biomechanical (forces) analysis of the patient’s oral cavity.
In this project, several challenges need to be overcome:
- Versatility of the solution, i.e. offering modular electronics with a common platform to which one or more sensors can be connected, depending on the patient’s condition.
- No degradation of the properties of the instrumented mouthguard (mechanical integrity, biocompatibility of components in contact with the oral environment, stability and repeatability of measurements) and preservation of its clinical performance.
- Reproducible additive manufacturing for the encapsulation of the electronics.
- Patient acceptability, i.e. ensuring that the instrumented mouthguards have thicknesses similar to those of conventional mouthguards. This involves providing a miniaturised electronic assembly to ensure patient comfort once the instrumented mouthguard is in place in the oral cavity.
