AIT Engineer - Test & Automation F/M
Job Description
We are looking for an AIT Engineer - Test & Automation at our Massy site. You will join the AIT department of our In-Orbit Services Business Unit. This role sits at the intersection of AIT operations, test software, and embedded systems: you will design, deploy and evolve the test automation architecture for current and future programs, with direct impact on production cadence and campaign reliability. You will interface with AIT teams (AIT Manager, Test Manager, Technicians), Engineering (System, Avionics, IV&V - Independent Verification and Validation), Mission and Quality (PA/QA), as well as external partners during campaigns (test centers, launch sites, bench suppliers).
Beyond technical skills, we are looking for someone who can structure and industrialize, rigorous, autonomous in problem-solving, comfortable in a multi-program environment and in technical communication in French and English.
Responsibilities
- Develop, validate and maintain test automation solutions: Design and evolve robust test automation solutions covering the full validation cycle. Develop test scripts and frameworks (Python, TypeScript, internal tools), integrate them into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins), and guarantee their robustness, maintainability, traceability and reproducibility in a critical environment.
- Deploy and operate test means (EGSE): Configure, qualify and operate test benches (EGSE, Electrical Ground Support Equipment), simulators and TM/TC supervision systems. Deploy automation solutions on these means and implement automated test campaigns (regression suites, overnight runs), ensuring hardware/software configuration consistency.
- Prepare, execute and analyze AIT test campaigns: Contribute to AIV/AIT campaign preparation by defining test sequences and associated configurations. Execute functional tests (power‑on, mode transitions, RF/electrical/propulsive performance) and perform first‑level analysis (anomaly triage, reproducibility checks, pre‑diagnosis and structured escalation).
- Ensure test traceability and compliance: Guarantee requirements coverage through test activities, in line with IV&V strategy. Manage script configuration, test environments and associated data. Maintain rigorous test documentation (logbooks, tickets, reports, anomalies) in compliance with applicable quality and testing standards (ECSS, NPR).
- Structure and continuously improve test activities: Standardize automation methods and contribute to industrialized, reproducible test pipelines. Reduce campaign lead time and improve reliability (flaky test reduction, early anomaly detection). Contribute to technical investigations and lessons learned capitalization to improve overall AIT system performance.
Preferred Experience
- Education: engineering degree or equivalent in computer science, software engineering, embedded systems or electronics.
- Experience: 5+ years in test automation, embedded or complex industrial environments. Experience in AIT, production or industrialization in the space sector or a high‑reliability industry (aerospace, defence) is strongly valued.
- Tools proficiency:
- Scripting and automation: Python (mandatory), TypeScript appreciated; CI/CD (GitLab CI, Jenkins); DevOps (Docker, Linux); Git versioning.
- Test benches and EGSE: test bench architecture (HIL, simulators), TM/TC supervision; data and monitoring: InfluxDB, MongoDB, Grafana.
- Embedded protocols (strongly valued): RS485, CAN, I2C, UART.
- Protocols and interfaces (bonus): Ethernet TCP/IP, RF, MQTT, HTTP, Modbus, NATS.
- Traceability and configuration: DOORS (requirements traceability), PLM (3DExperience or equivalent), GitLab/Jira, Odoo.
- Knowledge:
- Satellite system architecture (ADCS, propulsion, avionics, power, communications, thermal) and IV&V logic (requirements coverage, as‑run traceability).
- Applicable functional test and configuration standards: ECSS (E-ST-10, E-ST-10-03, M-ST-40, Q-ST-20) and NASA NPR.
- AIT environment constraints: ISO 8 cleanroom, ESD, B2V/BE electrical clearance appreciated.
- Soft skills: strong engineering rigor, ability to structure and industrialise processes, critical thinking and problem‑solving, autonomous but team‑oriented.
- Fluent in French and English (clear technical communication).
We make hiring decisions based on job‑related criteria and do not tolerate discrimination in recruitment processes.
