Aircraft Controls Systems Manager (Fly-by-Wire)

With a rapidly growing team and ambitious programme milestones ahead, they are looking to appoint an Aircraft Controls Systems Manager to lead a critical function within their organisation.

The Role

This is a senior leadership position within the Systems organisation, reporting into the Head of Systems. You will take ownership of Flight Control Systems (FCS) development , leading a multidisciplinary team working across a cutting-edge fly-by-wire (FBW) aircraft programme .

You’ll combine deep technical expertise with team leadership , ensuring the successful development and integration of key control system elements.

Responsibilities:

• Leading the development and integration of Flight Control Systems (FCS) across the aircraft
• Managing and growing a multidisciplinary team covering:
  • Actuation systems
  • Control laws (LAWs)
  • Hardware
  • Landing gear interfaces
• Driving system-level architecture decisions with a strong understanding of overall aircraft development
• Providing technical leadership and oversight across the full development lifecycle
• Supporting coordination across engineering disciplines within a complex aircraft programme
• Ensuring alignment with programme milestones, certification requirements, and performance targets

Requirements

• Extensive experience in Flight Control Systems (FCS) development
• 10+ years of working experience in aircraft development programmes
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams while remaining hands‑on
• Strong understanding of integrated aircraft systems and system architecture
• Experience working on or with Fly-by-Wire (FBW) systems
• Comfortable operating in multidisciplinary, high-complexity environments

Language

• French is highly desirable
• Direct team of ~5 engineers, within a wider team of ~10
• Collaborative, fast‑paced engineering environment with strong programme visibility
