Position Overview

Benchmark ML Engineer – part of the Applications and Performance team that guarantees the performance of customers’ scientific applications on supercomputers.

Location

Base at Eviden HPC sites in France (Grenoble, Les Clayes‑sous‑bois, Bruyères‑le‑Châtel, Bordeaux, Rennes, Toulouse, Montpellier) or other European sites.

Responsibilities

• AI benchmark analysis
  • Literature review of the application
  • Code exploration (if available)
  • Match hardware architecture with hyperparameters
• Benchmark preparation
  • Set up software environment (usually in a container)
  • Create training and job scripts
  • Prepare dataset
  • Conduct hyperparameter search
  • Document processes
• Benchmark execution and performance estimation
  • Run tests on multi‑node multi‑accelerator clusters (e.g., NVIDIA GPU, AMD GPU, Intel Gaudi GPU)
  • Perform analysis and generate reports
  • Estimate performance of non‑existent or future systems
• Collaborate with partners (AMD, Intel, NVIDIA) and customers; travel may be required within France and Europe.

Qualifications

• Relevant higher education degree or university.
• Several years of experience in AI.
• Autonomous, team‑spirit, strong understanding of deep‑learning fundamentals.
• Experience training classic neural‑network architectures (MLP, CNN, RNN) and transformers/LLM.
• Experience with containers (Docker, Singularity).
• Knowledge of GPU, network, storage architectures is a plus.
• Proficient in Python, Bash, PyTorch, TensorFlow.
• Strong analytical skills, curiosity, initiative, organized, rigorous, and ability to balance priorities.

Travel

May require short trips mainly in France and Europe.
