Position: Digital Architect – Manufacturing Sciences, Analytics & Technology (MSAT)

Location: Lyon, France (Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite, 2 days remote)

Overview

We are looking for a Digital Architect to shape and evolve the digital, analytics and AI landscape supporting Manufacturing Sciences, Analytics & Technology (MSAT). This role focuses on architecture, strategy, and roadmap, with no on‑site software development. The successful candidate will define future‑state architectures, identify opportunities to enhance existing capabilities, and guide the adoption of scalable digital and analytics solutions across the MSAT domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain architecture strategies, roadmaps, and target‑state solutions supporting MSAT objectives.
  • Assess and enhance the existing digital, data, analytics, and AI landscape.
  • Lead architectural decisions and technology evaluations aligned with business and scientific priorities.
  • Establish architecture standards, principles, and governance models.
  • Define architecture patterns supporting advanced analytics, AI, and data‑driven decision making.
  • Guide the adoption and integration of AI capabilities and support scalable analytics solutions for process optimisation, technology transfer, and manufacturing performance improvement.
  • Ensure analytics and AI solutions are explainable, compliant, and suitable for regulated environments.
  • Partner with MSAT teams to support process optimisation, technology transfer, process validation, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Translate scientific and operational requirements into scalable technology strategies.
  • Embed security, compliance and governance principles into architecture decisions and support audit and inspection readiness.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to MSAT, Quality, Data, Digital and IT stakeholders; facilitate collaboration across scientific, business and technology teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Manufacturing Sciences (MSAT), Manufacturing Analytics, Data Science, Advanced Analytics, Digital Manufacturing, Manufacturing IT/OT Solution or Enterprise Architecture.
  • Experience in regulated environments such as pharmaceutical, biotech or life sciences organisations.
  • Strong understanding of Manufacturing Sciences (MSAT) concepts and processes.
  • Strong background in Data Science, Analytics and data‑driven decision making.
  • Experience with cloud‑based analytics and data platforms.
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts and their application within regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of GxP, GMP, CSV and Data Integrity requirements.
  • Technical exposure to public cloud platforms (AWS preferred), data platforms and analytics ecosystems, manufacturing systems, data governance and architecture frameworks.
  • Soft skills: strong collaboration and stakeholder management; ability to work effectively across scientific, business and technology teams; learning mindset; strong communication and influencing skills; strategic thinking and systems‑level problem solving.
  • Nice to have: support for global manufacturing organisations, TOGAF or similar architecture certification, AI governance frameworks, familiarity with MES, historians, LIMS, ELN or manufacturing data platforms.
