The Consumer Experience Group at Sanofi is seeking a proactive and insightful Design Research Lead to join our team. This role shapes the user experience by understanding user behaviours, needs, and motivations through various research methodologies. The candidate will inform design and product strategies to enhance user satisfaction and engagement.

As a Research Lead for digital products and tools within the Consumer Experience Group, you will ensure our solutions are user-centered, innovative, and adoptable. Your expertise in foundational and user-focused research will guide the development of products that meet user needs and preferences. You will lead comprehensive research initiatives and provide insights to inform design decisions.

Main responsibilities

  • Foundational Research: Conduct foundational research to understand the broader context of user behaviours, needs, and motivations
  • Data Collection: Use surveys, interviews, usability testing, and field observations to gather qualitative and quantitative user data
  • Participant Recruitment: Identify and recruit participants, ensuring a diverse and representative sample

Analyzing Data

  • Data Analysis: Identify patterns, trends, and insights from research data
  • Synthesis: Combine findings into reports and presentations to support design decisions

User Research Artifacts

  • User Personas: Create detailed personas based on research findings
  • Journey Maps: Develop journey maps to illustrate the user experience and identify touchpoints and pain points
  • Use Cases/User Scenarios: Understand how the product will be used and by whom

Supporting Ideation and Prototyping

  • Facilitative Brainstorming: Contribute research insights during ideation sessions

Collaboration

  • Cross-functional Work: Collaborate with senior researchers, designers, product managers, and engineers to integrate findings into product strategies
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ensure effective communication with all stakeholders throughout the research process

Presenting Findings

  • Reporting & Communication: Present findings to stakeholders to facilitate evidence-based decision-making via clear reports and presentations
  • Visual storytelling: Develop compelling visuals to communicate insights

Learning and Tools

  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest research techniques and tools
  • Skill Enhancement: Apply new knowledge to improve research quality

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Visual Communication: Create artifacts such as journey maps and personas using tools like Adobe, FigJam, or similar
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with research tools (Dovetail, Usertesting, etc.) and ability to present findings
  • Analytical Skills: Analyze and synthesize complex data into actionable insights
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication to present findings and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Problem-solving: Critical thinking to solve problems based on research insights
  • Experience: Seasoned in conducting research informing digital development
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred but not required
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with design and research tools; ability to create visually compelling artifacts
