Job Summary
Amazon is seeking an experienced 3PL Manager to oversee the strategic operations and performance of our critical third‑party logistics provider network. The role involves ensuring 3PL partners meet high standards across operational performance, cost management, continuous improvement, change management, network integration, escalation processes, and provider relationship management. The position requires up to 40% travel to local 3PL sites and Amazon facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Performance Management
- Establish and lead a structured, systematic approach to site‑level performance management, including short‑term improvement plans, deviation management, and providing high‑quality performance comments and feedback.
- Proactively identify performance deviations, develop and execute corrective action plans in collaboration with 3PL providers, and leverage data‑driven insights to optimize operations.
- Serve as a benchmark for peers, setting the standard for performance management excellence.
- Cost Management
- Demonstrate deep understanding of 3PL business cases and ability to detect hidden cost levers.
- Actively engage with stakeholders to refine business cases and influence cost‑improvement activities.
- Continuous Improvement
- Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to proactively detect potential issues before they impact KPIs.
- Drive operational excellence and structured follow‑up with peers and linked businesses, setting higher benchmarks for the network.
- Influence and align with internal and external stakeholders on improvement plans.
- Change Management
- Implement top‑down changes from Amazon leadership and bottom‑up initiatives to align 3PL operations with Amazon standards.
- Develop positive and effective initiatives, acting as a primary proposer and setting higher benchmarks for the network.
- Network Integration
- Establish continuous and successful bi‑directional exchange of support with internal senior network management, acting as a development motor.
- Coordinate and align the 3PL site with the broader Amazon Network and supporting functions.
- Escalation
- Proactively identify and accelerate critical issues, utilizing effective communication and partnering with senior stakeholders to drive timely resolution.
- Authored comprehensive escalation reports and participated in senior leadership calls.
- 3P Key Accounting & Vendor Relationship Management
- Build strong, profitable, and sustainable relationships with 3PL provider leadership, Amazon internal leadership, and broader provider network.
- Be a trusted, reliable interlocutor, key point of contact, and benchmark for peers.
About The Team
The team oversees contracts for MMN 3P, handling high volumes in the EU using the same sortation flow as 1P operations. Team members collaborate closely with each other and support functions to standardize processes, enhance on‑site partner performance, drive continuous improvement, and manage peak events.
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years in logistics, operations, or supply chain management, with a proven track record of progression.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time to local 3PL sites and Amazon facilities.
- Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in engineering, project management, operations, logistics, supply chain or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in driving operational excellence and continuous process improvements.
- Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Outstanding communication, stakeholder management, and relationship‑building abilities.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpreting complex performance metrics.
- Deep knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven experience in negotiation, contract management, and influencing provider behavior.
- Ability to develop positive and effective initiatives, acting as a primary proposer.
- Demonstrated competence in establishing continuous and successful bi‑directional exchange of support with internal senior network management.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field or MBA.
