Portfolio Director

Ready to take ownership of a thriving international events portfolio - and propel it to its next phase of global growth? Our client is hiring a commercially sharp, data-driven Portfolio Director to lead two major brands (eight events in total) within a world-class B2B events organisation based in Paris. This is a strategic, high-impact leadership role where you’ll guide a 30+ person team across Sales, Marketing, Content, Ops and Product, including two highly experienced Event Directors.
You’ll sit on the Management Team, reporting directly to the Managing Director, shaping the long-term vision while driving revenue, innovation, international expansion, and portfolio performance.
What we’re looking for:
You’ll thrive here if you are an ambitious, commercially-minded leader with:
- 10+ years’ experience leading large-scale, international B2B event portfolios (must include major trade shows).
- Proven experience managing a large P&L (€30m plus) and delivering sustained revenue and margin growth.
- Demonstrated success leading large, multi-disciplinary teams (30+ people) within a matrix environment.
- Deep commercial acumen - KPIs, ROI, forecasting, risk, pricing, and planning.
- Data-driven decision-making and excellent analytical skills.
- High EQ with a collaborative, empowering leadership style.
- Experience with acquisitions, strategic partnerships, or new product growth is a major plus.
- Fluency in English and French is essential.
What you’ll lead:
As Portfolio Director, you will:
- Own the full portfolio P&L - driving revenue growth, margin expansion, and disciplined cost control.
- Set and execute the portfolio strategy, positioning, and multi-year roadmap.
- Lead a large cross-functional team in a matrix environment, coaching future leaders and building a high-performance culture.
- Oversee sales strategy, exhibitor & sponsor growth, key account management, and commercial partnerships.
- Define the marketing, brand, content, and digital strategy across all touchpoints.
- Spearhead new product development, digital innovation, and data-led decision making.
- Deliver accurate forecasting, business cases, and strategic insights at senior leadership level.
- Shape and lead acquisition and partnership pipelines, from evaluation to integration.
