Role overview : Head of Subregion Western Europe and Africa for GT Substations
As the Head of Substations Business for Western Europe and Africa, you will lead a high‑performing, agile team at the forefront of the energy transition, reporting directly to the Head of Substation Europe and Africa. The organization is responsible for delivering high‑voltage substations across Western Europe and selected markets in Africa, while also acting as the European Centre of Competence for data centre substation solutions.
Your role combines strategic leadership, business development, full P&L accountability, hands‑on project execution, and close customer interaction. You will oversee the full substation project portfolio – from tendering through execution to handover – and build a high‑performance execution organization with a strong focus on stability of execution, operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
You will empower teams to achieve ambitious targets, strengthen execution discipline, and drive efficiency without compromising quality or customer focus. Your leadership in people development, organizational design, and cross‑functional alignment will ensure a unified go‑to‑market approach and consistently deliver innovative, customer‑focused solutions.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead and develop high‑performing Tendering and Project Execution teams, ensuring clear accountability, flat hierarchy, strong engagement, and a unified approach across substation portfolios in Western Europe and Africa.
- Strengthen customer focus and business growth by driving a cohesive go‑to‑market strategy in Western Europe and supporting expansion in Africa, while positioning the organization as a European centre of competence for data centre substation solutions.
- Own full P&L responsibility and end‑to‑end project performance — from tendering through execution to handover — ensuring governance, compliance, delivery excellence, risk mitigation, and world‑class HSE and quality standards.
- Drive stability of execution and operational excellence by optimizing resource allocation, enabling rapid and effective decision‑making, and ensuring predictable, profitable, and customer‑centric project delivery.
- Foster continuous improvement and competitiveness, enhancing efficiency across processes, strengthening collaboration with supply chain partners, and supporting scalable growth in both core transmission and data centre markets.
What You Bring
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience in transmission infrastructure, with a strong track record in both project execution and operational performance.
- Demonstrated experience running execution of data centre projects and/or data centre‑related infrastructure.
- Experience leading a transmission and distribution business with full P&L accountability spanning different regions and/or countries.
- Demonstrated success managing combined sales, tendering and execution teams, ideally within a flat organizational structure, ensuring seamless transition from bid stage through project completion.
- Excellent people management skills, with a track record of effective team allocation, talent development, and cross‑functional collaboration to drive high‑performance execution.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance tendering and execution priorities while maintaining operational efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership abilities ensuring alignment across customers, partners, and internal functions.
- Professional‑level fluency in written and spoken French and English is required.
