CIFRE - Hétérostructures à base de matériaux du groupe IV pour des applications de photodétecte[...]
Your Future Role
You will join a world‑renowned global player in semiconductor research at CEA‑Leti to develop novel group‑IV‑based heterostructures for advanced photodetector applications. The work will be conducted primarily at CEA‑Leti in Grenoble, in close collaboration with STMicroelectronics and the PGI‑9 Laboratory at Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany. PGI‑9 will provide samples; the PhD candidate will not be required to spend time in Germany.
Your Research Focus
Your research will focus on the fabrication and characterization of group‑IV‑based heterostructures for advanced photodetectors, using state‑of‑the‑art cleanroom facilities at CEA‑Leti Grenoble. To identify the most promising heterostructures for future STMicroelectronics technologies, you will benchmark various novel group‑IV alloys, enabling the required performance for a wide range of applications.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Review and critically evaluate the scientific literature to define the most promising heterostructure designs.
- Engage in scientific discussions with a multidisciplinary team of experts from all partner institutions.
- Execute cleanroom process steps such as photolithography, wet and dry etching, and deposition for device fabrication.
- Characterize the fabricated photodetectors using advanced optical and electrical measurement techniques.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, and disseminate results through scientific publications and conference presentations.
Your Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in physics, nanomaterials, materials science/engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Solid knowledge of semiconductor physics; experience with optical and/or electrical characterization methods is a strong advantage.
- Professional proficiency in English, written and spoken.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a rigorous scientific mindset.
- High motivation to work in an international, interdisciplinary team and to contribute actively to collaborative research.
Equity & Inclusion
We cultivate an inclusive and diverse workplace where discrimination has no place. We are committed to equity in career development, professional opportunities, and compensation. Candidates who do not meet every criterion are encouraged to apply because we value diverse backgrounds and provide real opportunities for learning and growth.
